Mimizan

Two croissants, a ton of buttered bread, cake , orange juice, and loads of coffee...I think. I'm ready for the ride to Biarritz. Yesterday was good but long, rather unexpectedly so! Jeff is no longer allowed to lead though roundabouts. Partly because he takes a random exit and then asks me which exit we took and partly because French cars are so small that he doesn't seem to notice them as he enters he roundabout. Don't worry, they see him (why else do they beep? They are so friendly to him, always saying hello...).

The route along the coast is surprisingly dull...we're mostly in man made forests, never ending rows of trees. Today we plan on making a quick go of it so we have some time in Biarritz. If we're lucky, surfing is in our future. Yesterday I jumped in the ocean straight after we arrived and found myself wishing we had warm water like this in California.

time to pack the bikes

  2. In France, beeping horns are understood to mean "We love Americans". I learned that by watching Lance ride around in France.
